Desde 2017, Mengyu Zhou es un investigador en Microsoft Research Asia. Actualmente es un Investigador Principal en el Grupo DKI (Datos, Conocimiento, Inteligencia). Sus intereses de investigación son: Análisis de datos, procesamiento del lenguaje natural, inteligencia artificial, ciencia de redes y neurociencia. Su trabajo de investigación es en productos de Microsoft. Por ejemplo: Analítica semántica de datos en la inteligencia para hojas de cálculo Excel, y el diseño e implementación del sistema de IA llamado Forms Ideas.

De 2008 a 2012, Mengyu fue estudiante del Departamento de Ciencia y Tecnología de Computadores, Universidad de Tsinghua. De 2012 a 2017, fue estudiante de doctorado del Instituto de Ciencias de la Información Interdisciplinario (IIIS) y miembro del Netman Grupo de Departamento de Ciencia y Tecnología de Computadores, Universidad de Tsinghua. Sus consejeros eran Thomas Moscibroda y Dan Pei. Su trabajo de doctorado utiliza la ciencia de datos & aprendizaje automático para caracterizar la vida del campus: Experiencia de WiFi, interacciones sociales-físicas de las masas y la educación. También es el fundador de dos organizaciones de edtudiantes de ciencia y tecnología en Tsinghua: Lab μ Asociación de Geeks y Club ε Neurociencia Interés Grupo. En Lab μ, que dirigió el equipo de > 50-personas por diseño, desarrollo y promoción de 3 productos populares — TUNet asistente automático por Red, Tsinghua Now por la vida de campus y CaμsKit servicios por los eventos grandes.
